REFERENCE METHOD / 04
A measurement is useful only when its object and basis are visible.
The method records package measurements supplied or taken for a named reference. It does not invent missing values or turn one sample into a guaranteed specification for future stock or carrier rating.
PACKAGING LEVEL
Name what was measured before recording how large it is.
Japanese TCG products may be discussed at several packaging levels. The record should describe the observed object in plain language and preserve the exact product code. A value for one level must not be relabeled as a value for another.
- Retail or display unit: the specifically identified sealed format measured.
- Inner grouping: only when that packaging level is physically present and identified.
- Outer case: the exact outer carton in the measurement record.
- Dispatch carton: a shipment-specific carton, not a manufacturer case specification.
RECORD REQUIREMENTS
Publish context beside every physical value.

MEASUREMENT SEQUENCE
Produce a reference another person can interpret.

Identify the object
Record the exact product and packaging level before taking a value. A display, inner carton and outer case are different objects.

State the basis
Name the instrument, unit, orientation convention and whether protective or transport packaging is present.

Capture the values
Record the observed values without replacing an unknown digit, changing units silently or implying greater precision than the instrument supports.

Publish the context
Keep the measurement date, sample count, source and limitations beside the values so another buyer can interpret them correctly.
CALCULATION BOUNDARY
Physical measurements are not freight quotations.
Geometric volume can be calculated only from dimensions recorded in consistent units. Dimensional-weight rules, rounding, chargeable weight and acceptance criteria vary by carrier and service, so this site does not apply a generic divisor or promise a freight outcome.
- Do not estimate scale from a product or warehouse photograph.
- Do not reuse an archived value when the exact packaging format is uncertain.
- Do not remove sample limitations when a value is copied into another worksheet.
- Do not present measured reference data as current stock, final packing or availability.

Use only references that show their measurement basis.
